REGION 7 SHOOTING DOG CHAMPIONSHIP (One Hour)

SHOOTING DOG DERBY (30 Minutes Time Permitting)

It is a condition of acceptance for the Championship that each entry furnishes an AFTCA Win Certificate number for Derby or Shooting Dog Placement (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) for dog and handler per AFTCA Bylaws Article III Section 8. The dog must be entered by the registered name. Entry fee is expected if dog is drawn. GROUNDS: LBJ National Grasslands – Decatur, Texas. From Hwy 380 in Decatur, go north on Hwy 730 for 9 miles. Turn left (west) at the cemetery sign which is CR 2461, go approximately one block then bear right on CR 2560. Travel westerly for approximately 5 miles to CR 2675 which is gravel and turn right (northerly). Travel approximately 1.5 miles and turn right (east) on CR 2777. Camp area and starting point will be a short distance down the gravel road, is on the south side, and easily visible from the road. Field trial signs will be posted. National Grasslands parking fees are included in the Region 7 permit and are not applicable to participants and visitors. The Forest Service does not permit tethering of animals to trees. HEADQUARTERS MOTEL: Comfort Inn – 1709 SR 287 – Decatur, TX 76234 – 940-627-6919. Other motels are available. DAILY RUNNING: Six (6) one-hour braces are scheduled each day, however; in the event of an early termination of a brace, the 7th brace will be on standby. LUNCHES: Available on grounds TROPHIES: To Champion and Runner-Up Champion. The Champion also receives a Christie Enterprises bridle, a current Herb Booth painting donated by Region 7 AFTCA Trustees, and a one week Brazil Peacock Bass Fishing Trip (not including airfare, tips, etc.) donated by Ron Speed. The Lake Murray Field Trial Grounds Committee Chairpersons Linda and Tom Milam are spearheading efforts for a substantial brush / trees clearing effort before the beginning of the 2010 fall season.  A contractor to provide equipment and labor has been chosen, and work began this week.

The length of time the contractor can provide this service depends on funding for material cost, primarily diesel fuel.

Donations for this effort are being solicited and will be very much appreciated from individuals, clubs, organizations, and businesses.  The Lake Murray Conservation Association, Inc. is considered a 501C3 association eligible for tax deduction.  Bobbi Howse will issue a receipt and mail it to the donor.   Checks may be made to Lake Murray Conservation Association, Inc. and submitted to Bobbi at the below address:
